MIFC Putrajaya 2008
August 17, 2008
China was performing on Saturday. I wasn’t really know what to expect and whether I’ll be able to capture anything at all. Reached there at 8 plus, walked around and waited until almost 10 before they finally started. Unfortunately chosen a bad spot for viewing. Anyway, at least tested some shots and get some experience of shooting fireworks.
It was pretty convenient to take the star LRT to tasik selatan then switched to ERL for rm5.30 to get to putrajaya. I was happy to know at least the ERL operates until 1am. Unfortunately I didn’t realise the star LRT only operate until 11:30pm. By the time the fireworks was over, it was 10:30pm already. It toook the transit bus about 15 minutes or so to bring me back to putrajaya sentral, waited for the ERL for 20 minutes and finally reaching tasik selatan right after 11:30pm to find the place closed down already. That was pretty frustrating. Ended up taking a taxi back. That would really make me think twice about taking the public transport to putrajaya at night. The traffic wasn’t as bad as I would imagine anyway. As usual, the place was pretty much like a carnival and the aftermath was that everybody left their paper and plastic cups, food packages and rubbish all over the sidewalks and open field where they sat and watched the show. It was pretty embarrasing and ironic that you can find rubbish bins virtually everywhere all over putrajaya.
Anyway, not worth it at all going so far to watch a 25minute show. They should have more show in one night. And, may be somebody should calculate the carbon emission generated from the traffic to the putrajaya because of the show and not to mention the thousands of ringgit burnt to ashes in that 25 mintue show. Those could have easily been used to reduce the fuel price. But obviously we still are willing to drive (paying for the expensive fuel) to watch a firework show that really doesn’t do much but wasting people’s own money. And then we go back to work the next day and continue to complain about the fuel price… confusing.
